The average price of electricity for regulated rate customers linked to the wholesale market shoots up this Monday to 102.63 euros per megawatt hour (MWh), which represents an increase of 260.36% compared to 28.48 euros/MWh this Sunday.
In the auction, the average price of light in the wholesale market – the so-called ‘pool’ – will stand this Monday at 102.63 euros/MWh. The minimum price, of 49.25 euros/MWh, will be given between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., while the maximum price will be registered between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., when it will amount to 187.60 euros/MWh.
Compensation for gas companies is added to this pool price, which must be paid by consumers who are beneficiaries of the measure, consumers of the regulated tariff (PVPC) or those who, despite being on the free market, They have an indexed rate, which for this Sunday will be at 0 euros/MWh, a situation that has been repeated since February 27.
The average price of electricity in the monthly accumulated until March 27 stands at 94.42 euros/MWh, that is, about 37.50 euros less than the 132.01 euros/MWh of the same period in February.
The ‘Iberian mechanism’, which came into force on June 15, limits the price of gas for electricity generation to an average of 48.8 euros per MWh for a period of twelve months, thus covering next winter, a period in which energy prices are more expensive.
Specifically, the ‘Iberian exception’ sets a path for natural gas for electricity generation from a price of 40 euros/MWh in the initial six months, and subsequently, a monthly increase of five euros/MWh until the end of the measure . Throughout this month the price will be 55 euros/MWh.
